country-specific Google?
Thanks for your interest in Google Video.
Currently, the playback feature of Google Video isn’t available in your country.
We hope to make this feature available more widely in the future, and we really appreciate your patience.
What. The. Fuck?
Since when is it required to be in the right country to view video content?
I knew about country-specific Google results (way to play along governments — and let Yahoo appear like the sole devil), but country-specific playback ability for videos that for the most part don’t have any restriction on export?
Update: for some reason, installing Google’s Web Accelerator allows one to view the videos (hat tip: Philipp Lenssen on Google Blogoscoped). Still no solution for non-Windows users besides using a proxy.
Oh well, I guess I can live without seeing Mario Unleashed or Morning Musume’s neko pose…

red and green on white
First snow in Paris yesterday, Jardin des Tuileries.
Only my second experience of shooting in the snow.
The first one was disastrous, as my old digicam fell in the snow and refused to boot up for weeks. This time, I could really trust the camera’s body, and that makes a tremendous difference.
Too bad there’s no snow anymore this morning…

one picture, a thousand words, yada yada
I’ve grown a new interest in having a life recently, and some guilt for my readers who wouldn’t see blog updates in weeks while my flickr account is rather active.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’m just going to integrate the photolog in the blog itself: you’ll see thousands words, ain’t that grand?
Now, I think I could just use flickr’s “Blog This” function, but that would leave me with twenty six blog entries to edit for accurate date and tags. Boooooring.
So before I set on to script my way out of this problem with some flickr API love and direct post injections in WP, if you know a script that already does that please comment with some pointers!
Not that I couldn’t do it, but do we really need to code the wheel twice?
(That message brought to you by the I-have-a-thousand-things-to-catch-up-on division. Thanks for your attention, and have a nice day.)
Update: it’s done! (With custom, terrible-looking code.)

outsourced, not outwitted
Hilarious take on outsourcing on the Daily Show.
“Just explain to me why my Airport Extreme has no floppy drive.
— Hold on one moment please Mr Colbert, I’m going to check your warranty.
— What an accent is that, are you Scottish?
— I am… from… Nebraska.”
